Botswana

We first visited Botswana in 2009, driving from Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park in Botswana. We spend a couple of days exploring Chobe National Park, which was really enjoyable.

In 2010, we made our second trip to Botswana, covering the Okavango Delta (Moremi National Park), Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR). Both Moremi and CKGR are fantastic places for wildlife enthusiasts.

The wildlife viewing in Chobe National Park was awesome.

In 2010, we flew into Maun, which is the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We took a jeep to Moremi National park, and stayed at Sango Safari Camp just outside Moremi NP.

On our first night at Sango Camp, we were woken up by a large herd of elephants all around our tents. While a couple of tents had to be evacuated, we were fortunate to be able to continue staying in our tent.

After staying at Sango Camp, we spend a couple of nights at Little Kwara camp, from where we had access to the Okavango Delta. We got to see lots of bird life, hippos and elephants around Little Kwara Camp.

From Okavango delta, we took a small plane to Central Kalahari Game reserve, which is one of the largest game reserves in the world, covering 52,800 sq. kms. We stayed at Tau Pan camp, which was very comfortable and luxurious.

We were lucky to see a lot of wildlife in CKGR.

The third place of visit was Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. We stayed at a hotel called Planet Baobab.

The 2010 trip to Botswana was amazing. A point to note is that Botswana government follows a policy of Low impact, High cost. So accommodation in both Moremi and CKGR is expensive. However the wildlife sightings were really worth the price
